How They Met

They met in the absolute best place to meet someone, church. It was a routine Sabbath for Dorian going to church (late for Sabbath school). Tai just got to town the night before to visit her sister (LaNice) on her way to Oakwood College. Dorian walked into the Youth/Young Adult Sabbath School class and as he entered he heard this girl on the other side of the room. She was passionately speaking about how God was blessing her and how blessed she was. After that her sister, LaNice introduced the two and they hit it off from there. LaNice is also Dorian’s friend and is married to his close friend Gabriel. Little did Dorian know that he would spend the rest of church and that evening with this beautiful girl. Tai had no idea that she would be getting such good vibes from this guy that goes to her sister’s church. That night they spent a little time in karaoke (till 1 AM) with LaNice and her then roommate. They exchanged contact information and spent a lot of time in email and on the phone.

The Engagement

Dorian proposed to Tai during their weekly youth meeting at his chruch. On Dec. 16th, 2005, Dorian and Tai were formally engaged on her 24th birthday. It was awesome and stressful at the same time. Dorian had to throw Tai a curve ball to try and surprise her. It ended up creating some serious tension for about two hours. Dorian, after the fact, saw that he could have handled things better, but he still managed to pull the surprise off. He had been planning it for months. Tai was clueless. Dorian had his friend Jonathon Reid hold on to the ring and his other friend Matt Taitano record the occasion. LaNice grabbed her digital camera and recorded the occasion as well.
